ActiveSync > Conflicts A conflict occurs whenever an item is modified both on the Pocket PC and the desktop between synchronizations. Because DayNotez™ is unable to determine which change should be kept and which should be discarded, the user is asked to resolve the conflict. The item could be a note, template or the name of a category. When a conflict is detected, the DayNotez™ status will display the number of unresolved items in the ActiveSync window.
There will be a "Resolve items..." link to tap to initiate ActiveSync to re-synchronize and display the "Resolve Conflict" dialog. This dialog displays a summary of each item that is conflicting and an option to individually choose whether the Pocket PC or the desktop will overwrite the other. There is a third option to skip if you do not wish to synchronize the item at this time. Skipping will leave the item in the unresolved state and during the next sync the same process will begin again.
In the "Resolve Conflict" example above, there are two unresolved items. The first item is a category that was renamed to "Project@Hand 2" on the desktop and "Project@Hand MSP" on the Pocket PC. The second item is a note dated 12/15/2005 that was modified both on the Pocket PC and desktop. In both cases we choose to replace what's on the handheld with the item that's on the desktop. |
