How Do I.... > Reinstall to Pocket PC > When I have a new device

The following steps will apply when you have replaced your device or if you use multiple devices (maybe you have both a business and personal Pocket PC device).  In this case you want to have one desktop database that the multiple Pocket PC devices will synchronize to. If you are adding a new device for a new user and you want to have different desktop databases, please see the next question (setup a second user...).

 

1.Connect the new Pocket PC to the desktop PC and ensure the device has an ActiveSync connection.
2.From your desktop PC, install DayNotez™ this Pocket PC by running “Start/Programs/Natara Software/Install DayNotez on PPC OS Device”.
3.Follow the wizard instructions. Additional information about the wizard can be found in the PC Install topic starting at step 5.
4.During the next synchronization, you will be prompted whether a new DayNotez™ database should be created or if you wish to share an existing database between multiple devices. Since a single desktop database is desired, pick the "Share the DayNotez database..." option and select the ActiveSync partnership name of your other device. If you are unsure what its name is, you can check this from the Pocket PC by opening the Start/Settings/System/About applet and tapping the device ID tab and examine the device name setting. Tap the OK button.

ss_hint Tip: When multiple Pocket PC devices share the same desktop database, changes are synchronized between the Pocket PC devices and the common desktop database. You can use the ActiveSync configuration to restrict exactly what note data is synchronized to your devices. For example, if you have a business and personal Pocket PC devices, you could configure only your business categories to be synchronized to your business Pocket PC and only the personal categories to be synchronized to your personal Pocket PC.
