Q. I am on the Wizard page installing DayNotez™ on the Pocket PC and it seems to have stalled. What should I do?
A. First, check ActiveSync and make sure it has a connection to your device.

       

       If your connection is good, it may be the application that installs the CAB files on your Pocket PC is still running. After it finishes installing software on the Pocket PC, the final screen waits for you to tap OK before it shuts down. No other installations can be initiated until it is closed. Find this screen and close it, or soft-reset your device.

 

       After the reset you can reinstall the DayNotez™ software on your device. Use the “Start/Programs/Natara Software/Install DayNotez on PPC OS Device” shortcut to initiate the install.

 

 

Q. Can I set the default font size?
A. There is no setting for a default font size. If this is in reference to the list view, you can set the zoom size (View/Zoom menu) to adjust the magnification percentage. If you want a specific font family or font size to be used on a new note, please refer to the section on templates and setup a default template.

 

 

Q. Can I change the voice recording format?
A. The recording format is configured from the Start/Settings/Personal/Input applet in the options tab. The voice recording format setting configures how the audio data is saved. Changing this option will effect the size of the voice recording. More importantly, not all formats are supported on the desktop and if you select an incompatible format, you will not be able to play your recordings from the DayNotez™ Desktop application.

 

 

Q. I entered my code on the desktop, but the Pocket PC still says evaluation mode.
A. Make sure to synchronize your device and check again. The DayNotez™ Desktop software does not verify the registration code you enter, however the Pocket PC application and the ActiveSync component will. Therefore, it is best to verify that the code has been successfully entered from DayNotez™ Desktop by synchronizing the Pocket PC and then opening the Menu/About menu and examining the text to see if the software is in evaluation mode or if it has been registered. For more details, please refer to the Registration Dialog section.

 

 

Q. What should I do if DayNotez™ on the Pocket PC reports "Requires newer Compact Framework" when started.
A. When starting DayNotez, you may receive an error stating:

"This application (DayNotezPPC.exe) requires a newer version of the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device."

 

Tapping the Details button, you may see:

DayNotezPPC.exe

TypeLoadException

Could not load type System.Data.Common.DbDataAdapter from assembly System.Data.Common...

 

This error is the result of a missing, failed or corrupt Microsoft SQLCE installation. If you used the PC-based setup, open the "Start/Programs/Natara Software/Install DayNotez on PPC OS Device" shortcut. Either it will detect the missing SQLCE software and repair this, or it will give an option to reinstall select components. If the latter case, check the "Microsoft SQLCE" option to reinstall this component.

 

 

Q. I use DayNotez™ on a Palm device and I have purchased a Pocket PC device. How can I start using DayNotez™ again?
A. First, download the DayNotez™ software so you can evaluate it on your Pocket PC. Once you are ready to purchase, if you own DayNotez™ for Palm Desktop Edition you can "cross grade" and purchase a license to DayNotez™ for Pocket PC Desktop edition from the Natara website. Look for the "from DayNotez Desktop (Palm OS)" item and follow the instructions.

 

       If you own the hand-held only version you will need a full license. Refer to the section about purchasing a license.

 

       The same DayNotez™ Desktop software can be used to view either your Palm or Pocket PC installation. Your existing Palm data can be imported into the Pocket PC database. See the Upgrading from Palm section.
