How Do I.... > Restore my database

If you need to restore your DayNotez™ database, first quit DayNotez™ (enter CTRL-Q from the soft keyboard at the DayNotez™ screen to force it to exit).

Make sure ActiveSync is not running by either:

1.Disconnecting your device from the PC
2.(Only applies to Windows 2000, XP, not Vista) From your PC you can go to Start/Run and execute "wcesmgr /quit" to shutdown ActiveSync.

Then restore these two (2) files from your backup location:

3.DayNotezDb3.sdf (this is the database)
4.Options.xml (these are your preferences)

Generally both files should be restored as a set. It is permissible to restore either individually in a case where one of the files was accidentally deleted or became corrupt. Copy them to this path: \My Documents\Natara\DayNotez\.

Note: Listed here is the default location for the database and preference files. If you store your database on a storage card, your path might look like this: "\SD Card\Natara DayNotez Data\DayNotezDb3.sdf". Follow these same instructions and adjust the path accordingly.

If you restore the database, the next time you sync, ActiveSync will detect that the database has been changed and will prompt you for combining or discarding the handheld data. Combining will merge the data from both the desktop and the pocket PC without creating any duplicate items. Discarding will clear all the data in the DayNotez™ database and copy all the desktop data to the handheld.
