DayNotez for Pocket PC User Interface > Templates
Templates allow you to pre-fill a new note with text or attributes (category, contact, keyword, font etc.). You can define a default template and select it under Options/New Options if you want all your new notes configured in a particular way.
To create a template:
| 1. | Tap on Menu/Tools/Templates. |
| 3. | Type in a name for your template. Tap Add. |
| 4. | This screen is the same as when you add a new note. Type and apply attributes just as if this were a new note. If you want your cursor in a certain position when you use this template, tap on Menu/Tools/Set Cursor Location to define the location. Each time you use this template it will place the cursor in that location; the default location is at the top of the screen. If you are setting font attributes only, and no text, you must use at least one character (space) to retain those settings. |
| 6. | The new template is now part of your template list. |
To use a template in a new note:
| 2. | Tap on Menu/Templates/<Name of template> to apply the template. This will override a default template if you have one defined. |
| 3. | Write your note as usual. |
 | Tip: To override the default template so that all the text is replaced, you must not have made modifications to the note before choosing another template. If modifications were made it will be treated as using a template in an existing note. |
To use a template in an existing note:
| 2. | Tap on Menu/Templates/<Name of template> to apply the template. This will insert the text of the template at the current cursor location but will not set any of the note attributes. |
| 3. | Continue writing your note as usual. |
 | Tip: Use templates to insert often-used text. For example, you could create a template as a shortcut for inserting a web link. The template text would contain "http://www..com" and the cursor location could be set so after insertion, the cursor would be positioned between the two periods. |
To define a default template:
| 2. | Tap on Menu/Tools/Options/New tab and select the template under the "Apply Template" setting. |
| 3. | When you choose your template, you will notice that default input mode and cursor location are automatically filled in. These features are set when you create your template. |

Templates are synchronized to DayNotez™ Desktop and can be used from that application. DayNotez™ Desktop does not support the default template setting. If you create a new note on the desktop, your default template will not be applied automatically.
