On Palm smartphones and PDA's that support one handed 5-way navigation the following conventions are used with lists.

 

Left-Right - Scrolls the list up and down a page.

Up-Down - Moves the selection up and down one line or selectable item.

Select - Performs an action on the selected item.

Space - Moves focus to the toolbar or dialog buttons.

Period - Moves focus to the category filter at the top right of the screen.
