DayNotez User Interface > Dialogs > Note Details > Audio This tab is used to record and playback a voice memo. The ability to record voice memos is only supported on some devices.
DayNotez voice memos are stored as WAV files on the handheld's storage card (Compact Flash, Memory Stick, Secure Digital).
Press the voice memo button again, or tap the record button, to being recording. The pause button will appear in place of record button. To temporally pause recording, press voice memo button, or tap the pause button. Tap the record button to resume recording. When done recording, tap the stop button.
The dialog shows the length of the recording and the maximum time based on available memory. By default, the voice memos are first recorded to memory and then copied to the storage card when complete. This is done because some combinations of handhelds and storage cards are not able to keep up with the recording. There is an that controls whether the voice memo is recorded directly to the storage card. There is also an option for recording using 16 bit samples for higher quality at the expense of increased file size.
Voice memos are copied to the desktop during synchronization if you use DayNotez Desktop. You can configure DayNotez Desktop to display an icon on the Custom tab for entries that have associated voice memos. The voice memos can be played within DayNotez Desktop.
The voice memos are stored in WAV files located in a subdirectory off of the DayNotez Desktop data directory. Since it is possible to record several voice memos for the same DayNotez entry on different storage cards, the file names include the storage card volume name. For this reason it is important to name the storage cards. The Card Info application on the handheld can be used to name the storage cards.
The names given the voice memos have this format;
"[DayNotez Data Directory]\[Palm User Name]\[year]-[month]\[day]-[hour][minute]-[card name].wav"
The WAV files can also be played using standard sound applications on the desktop.
